CCBRE Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Lab

Our Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (AI Lab) is bridging the gap between technologies and real-world challenges. Based in Plovdiv and operating across Bulgaria, we assist industry and the public sector in transforming data into informed decisions by utilizing state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) methods that are designed to be useful, robust, and responsible.

What we do

  • Rapid prototyping and proof of value: we build and test AI concepts using your data to reduce investment risk.
  • Model evaluation and hardening: ensuring reliability, fairness, drift, and KPIs that matter in production.
  • Industrialisation and machine learning operations (MLOps): we take you from pilot to scalable systems with monitoring, retraining, and documentation.
  • Data-centric AI: better labelling, augmentation, active learning, and dataset curation to improve accuracy.
  • Privacy-aware / federated learning: collaborating securely without having to move sensitive data.

Technical depth

  • Methods: recommender systems, detection/segmentation, time-series forecasting, reinforcement learning, generative AI, explainability (XAI), multi-sensor fusion, other cutting-edge AI and ML methods.
  • Data sources: satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery, radar data (including synthetic aperture radar SAR), ground sensor networks, internet of things (IoT) tools/devices — all of them fused with text, tables, audio, video, and time series for richer signals.
  • Tooling: python (including PyTorch, TensorFlow and scikit-learn), geospatial pipelines (including Sentinel-1/2 and UAV/DJI), streaming stacks for IoT, and modern MLOps.

  • Forestry and environment: biomass/fuel-load mapping, fire-risk indicators, flood intelligence from SAR/optical/UAV, ground gauges and IoT weather nodes.
  • Waste and circular economy: foreign-material detection, quality monitoring, edge devices for on-site screening.
  • Industry and logistics: Visual question answering (VQA), anomaly detection, demand forecasting and IoT telemetry analytics.
  • Public sector and safety: Decision-support dashboards, rapid mapping, privacy-preserving data collaboration across ground networks and radar feeds.
